Solar San Diego Installation Type Asphalt shingle
Asphalt shingle roofs are the easiest to install a San Diego solar electric system. A roof can be pointed just about any direction other than North. We can even install on a North facing roof with the use of tilt legs. South and West facing roofs rebate and produce the best. In San Diego, the best pitch roof for solar is between 17 and 30 degrees. If the pitch is not ideal, standoffs can be used.

Below is a picture of a typical Hardy Solar San Diego asphalt shingle installation using rails and L feet. The L feet are lag bolted to the roof trusses through the shingles. It can be difficult to locate the truss with conventional tools so we have a special tool that can locate them through the shingles and plywood to avoid drilling multiple holes before finding it. As far as I know we are the only company in San Diego that has this tool.
The solar panels are then attached to the rails using clips. Care must be taken when designing the layout of a solar San Diego system to avoid roof vents. In this case we left plenty of space on either side.

Note we use high end EMT electrical metal tubing rather than plastic. This takes more time and costs a little more money but it is worth it in our opinion. We still guarantee lowest installed solar pricing in San Diego. We don't cut corners when it comes to installing solar on your house. The reason our prices are lower is through efficiency and low overhead. Note: conduit can be run in attic to conceal if preferred for a small additional cost. If this is important to you please let us know at time of quote.

Below is the Hardy Solar San Diego grid tie inverter and disconnects mounted on an exterior wall. Notice the attention to detail and EMT conduit not pvc. It is not uncommon to mount an inverter in a garage however it does not hurt them to be outside. It depends mostly on where the main service is located or customer preference.
