Solar batteries are one, if not the most important, component in an off grid energy system. A solar battery bank is where the energy is stored whether it is produced by a generator, wind, or solar. We highly recommend AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries for solar or for off grid in general. Sealed non spoilable design never needs watering. Take for example a small battery bank of say eight batteries. Each having three cells that's twenty four holes to keep hydrated. Just not having to expose yourself to this level of toxic gas and fumes alone is enough to justify AGM. But wait it gets even better. These solar batteries can operate upright or on their side and have a shock proof case that resists bulging far better than other batteries. Low impedance design means there is no amperage charge limit as long as long as voltage is regulated. AGM solar batteries are non hazardous and can be shipped without the need for HAZMAT charges or concerns.
Deep Cycle Batteries
Deep cycle batteries are a must for off grid solar systems due to their ability to cycle way up and way down. Deep cycle batteries were originally designed for golf carts. However, they are now an integrated component in all off grid energy system whether they are lead acid, flooded batteries, or AGM (absorbent glass mat).
